In short — Each event's organiser sets its refund policy, shown before you pay. If an organiser has not set one: tickets cannot be cancelled for a refund, but if the event is cancelled you get your money back in full. Refunds go back to your original payment method through the payment gateway, usually within 5 to 7 working days of being issued.
1. The organiser's policy applies
1.1 Events on HeyJoinMe are run by independent organisers, and each organiser sets the cancellation and refund policy for its events. The policy that applies to your booking is the one shown on the event page or at checkout when you booked.
1.2 Default policy. Where an organiser has not set its own policy:
- tickets cannot be cancelled by the buyer for a refund;
- if the event is cancelled, the full amount paid is refunded;
- if the event is postponed or moved to another city, your ticket stays valid for the new date or venue, and if you cannot attend you may ask for a full refund within 7 days of the change being announced; and
- other changes — such as a different start time on the same day, a new venue in the same city, or a change in the line-up — do not by themselves give a right to a refund, unless the organiser announces one or the law requires it.
2. If an event is cancelled
You do not need to apply. The amount you paid is refunded in full to your original payment method, and we will tell you by WhatsApp or email. We usually issue refunds within 7 working days of the cancellation being confirmed.
3. Asking for a refund
Contact the organiser (its details are on the event page), or contact us with your order number and the mobile number you booked with. Refunds that the organiser approves, or that this policy or the law requires, are issued by HeyJoinMe through the payment gateway.
4. Payments that did not complete
- If money leaves your account but the payment fails, it is reversed by your bank or the payment gateway, usually within 5 to 7 working days.
- If you were charged twice, or your payment arrived after your booking had lapsed, the full amount is refunded to you. If you have not received it, contact us with the transaction reference.
5. Refundable entry deposits
Some events collect a refundable deposit, shown as a separate line before you pay. It is refunded to your original payment method after the event if your ticket is checked in before the entry deadline shown at booking. If it is not, the deposit is forfeited, as stated at booking.
6. How refunds are paid
- Refunds go back to the original payment method — the UPI account, card or bank account you paid from. We cannot refund to a different account.
- Once a refund is issued, it usually reaches you within 5 to 7 working days; some banks take longer.
- Refunds are made in Indian Rupees for the amount refunded. Charges your own bank applied, such as foreign-currency charges, are not refunded by us.
- Where a policy allows a partial refund, the amount is worked out as that policy states.
- A refunded ticket is cancelled and its QR code stops working.
7. When refunds are not given
Unless the organiser's policy says otherwise, refunds are not given for: a change of plans; arriving late or not attending; refusal of entry because entry rules were not met — such as age, identity, dress code, intoxication or prohibited items — or because of misconduct; a QR code that someone else used after you shared it; tickets bought from anyone other than through the Platform; or the unused part of a multi-day pass.
8. Organisers using their own payment account
Where the checkout showed that the organiser uses its own payment gateway account, the organiser issues refunds through that account. We will help you reach the organiser.
9. Disputes
Please contact us before disputing a payment with your bank, so that we can resolve it quickly. If you are not satisfied, write to our Grievance Officer (see our Terms & Conditions).
10. Ticket delivery
Tickets are delivered electronically, on WhatsApp and by email, as soon as payment is confirmed (or once the attendee details the organiser asks for are submitted), and are always available in My tickets. There is no physical delivery.
